I have changed the caption to the lead picture here as the photograph is not of "patrons" of the Opera House, but is rather of the Opera House when a meeting of strikers and sympathisers was held there Sunday, April 12, 1908, during the streetcar operators' strike. dscosson ··· talk 23:06, 1 April 2008 (CDT)

Aha! All those people, at an opera, in Pensacola? I knew something wasn't right. --Admin 07:22, 2 April 2008 (CDT)

Progress Club?[edit]

Interesting... noticed via the Sanborn Maps that by 1907, the Opera House was apparently known as the "Progress Club." — admin • talk  17:18, 6 December 2009 (CST)

I think it's just that the "Progress Club" had space in the building. See [1], a 1905 Journal article which describes "the brilliant full evening dress ball given by the Progress Club in their elegant quarters in the Opera House building." — dscossontalk  17:26, 6 December 2009 (CST)
