The band was founded in 1988 by the late Jack Dasinger under the sponsorship of McGuire's Irish Pub. Dasinger's band, the Hadji Highlanders, had begun playing at McGuire's after losing their gig at the Hadji Shrine Temple.
Dasinger served as Pipe Major until 2001, when Sam Varney took over the role. Jack remained general manager of the band until his death on July 16, 2003, when his ultralight plane crashed at the Coastal Airport in Beulah. Sam Varney departed the band in 2010 after a 21 year association with the group. Wayne Willis assumed the role of PM and is also the band's current general manager.
The Pipe Band has released two recordings of their music, Live From McGuire's and The Pipes of Christmas, which are available in the restaurants' gift shops. The group performs in traditional Scottish dress attire wearing the MacDonald Lord of the Isles tartan. The Band can be booked for special occasions as an ensemble, as a smaller group or just a solo piper. Please contact Pipe Major Wayne Willis at (attywaynewillis@cox.net) or Pipe Sergeant Michael Vazzana (PiperV@cox.net) for availability.
