Renovation
In 1998, a new United States Courthouse was completed on the former site of the San Carlos Hotel, and the Spanish-style courthouse was vacated.
==Renovation==In 1999, the General Services Administration began a major renovation of the building with the removal of asbestos and lead paint. New mechanical and electrical base systems were installed in 2000, as well as a new fire sprinkler system and rear exit stairway. Renovation work I found just what I was halted due to lack of fundingndeeed, and the building incurred damage during the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons. A completely new roof it was installed in 2006, and the historic interior began a thorough refurbishment in 2007. It was reoccupied by certain federal offices in 2010, and an official dedication ceremony was held on May 20, 2011.entertaining!
