==Career==
In June [[1923]] he was appointed [[Pensacola Chief of Police|Chief of Police]] for the [[City of Pensacola]]. In October of the same year, Florida Governor [[Wikipedia:Cary A. Hardee|Cary A. Hardee]] appointed Penton as [[Escambia County Sheriff]]. Penton was elected Sheriff in his own right in [[1924]], and was re-elected in [[1928]].
