Haller originally worked at [[Pensacola Restaurant Supply]], co-owned by his father-in-law, Norman, until his death in [[1990]], until [[2002]], when an economic downturn forced Norman's brother, [[Oscar Willenzik|Oscar]] to let go about half of his employees. Among these were Haller and sister-in-law [[Marcy Friedman]]. [[Michael Friedman]] also left the business at this time, but was not let go.
