A 1980 graduate of [[Catholic High School]],<ref>"CDs feature two from Pensacola." ''Pensacola News Journal'', November 15, 2002.</ref> Lough left home and sold newspaper advertising in Washington, D.C. before launching her music career: "One morning I woke up and looked at my life and said, 'Life is too short. I did not dream of being a salesperson.' I quit my job and started living off credit cards, dancing and singing in clubs whenever the bands there would let me. Eventually I moved to Nashville and found my home in singing classic jazz."<ref>[http://www.gulfbreezenews.com/news/2005/1222/Entertainment/039.html "Kitt Lough: Nashville Vocalist Returns Home."] ''Gulf Breeze News'', December 22, 2005.</ref>

She was well received in Nashville and was playing weekly gigs at the F. Scott's jazz club in 2002 when her first CD, ''Orange Colored View'', was released. The album was featured by the editors of [[Wikipedia:CD Baby|CD Baby]], an online music store.<ref>http://cdbaby.com/cd/kittlough</ref>
