'''Carissa Borders Bergosh''' is an educator and wife of former [[Escambia County School Board]] member Judge [[Gary Bergosh]]. On [[January 24]], [[2003]], she was appointed by Governor [[Wikipedia:Jeb Bush|Jeb Bush]] to serve in her husband's place during his deployment to Kuwait and Iraq. She yielded the seat to him on [[January 20]], [[2004]].

Carissa is the adopted daughter of Ronald and Faye Borders. She graduated from [[Tate High School]] in 1985, received a bachelor of arts degree in communication from the [[University of West Florida]] and a master's degree in guidance counseling from the University of Memphis. She taught at [[Bellview Elementary School]] and headed the [[HOSTS]] mentoring program for students with reading disabilities. She and her husband Gary adopted their first child from a Russian orphanage in 2002.
