Krewe of African Queens

The Krewe of African Queens is a Mardi Gras organization that held its first ball in 2003. Every year the krewe crowns a queen, named for a historical queen of Africa. Founding krewe captain Evaline Jones was crowned the first queen, Nefertiti.[1]
