Outzen's radio program has not aired in several years. This fact was not reflected in the article.
In [[1999]] Outzen founded a weekly tabloid, the ''Independent'', which merged with [[Joe Scarborough]]'s competing paper, the ''Florida Sun'', in [[2001]]. The name of the paper changed briefly to the ''Independent Florida Sun'' before settling on its current name.
Outzen writes a weekly column for the ''Independent News'' called "Outtakes." He also authors a [[Wikipedia:blog|blog]], called [[Rick's Blog]], which published its first post on [[February 20]], [[2005]],<ref>http://routzen.wordpress.com/2005/02/20/tasers/</ref> and hosts . He is married to the former [[Cathy Outzen|Cathy Collins]] and has three daughters.
