History

The brick building that houses the restaurant was built in 1880 for Henry Pfeiffer's grocery store.[1] It changed hands many times in subsequent years. After the closing of Peaden's Office Supply in August 2000, the building was purchased by architect Brian Spencer and Dr. Roger Orth. They orchestrated the extensive renovations, which included removing the stucco veneer, adding floor-to-ceiling windows and doors (to "bring Plaza Ferdinand into the restaurant"[1]), and restoring the second floor as two apartments, which they occupied with their families.

The restaurant opened on March 12, 1999.
