Cordova Mall is the largest shopping center in the Pensacola area and the primary hub of the Cordova business district. Located on a large tract in central Pensacola, it is bounded by 9th Avenue, Bayou Boulevard and Airport Boulevard

History[edit]

Cordova-mall-opening-ad-1971.jpg

Cordova Mall was built in 1971 on land purchased from the Baars Family Estate and developed by Robert B. Aikens & Associates. It opened on August 8, 1971.

It is currently owned by the Simon Property Group, which announced its acquisition of the shopping center from the Aikens group on January 26, 1998.[1]

The mall goes through changes very often, as any other mall would. Zoe's Kitchen (2014-2023) used to occupy the corner location, where Cava now is. Before it became Zoe's Kitchen, it was Coldwater Creek. This store closed in 2014, when they filed for bankrupcy.

Currently, Victoria's Secret is in a corner location inside the mall. It moved here when Hollister closed in 2018/2019. In this location, before it became Hollister, it was an EB Games.

At one point, this mall was the home of a movie theater, arcade, and had other chain restaurants, such as Wendy's and Arby's before it's most recent remodel in 2008. The current restroom area in the food court is where the movie theater used to be.

Walking into the main entrance, the Red Robin location used to be a Ruby Tuesday location. Where Chipotle (2020-present) currently is used to be a Panera Bread, which was closed, then split and remodeled to become Chipotle and another soon to open (as of 2023) chicken restaurant.
