It began with the [[Siege of Pensacola]], when [[Bernardo de Gálvez]] triumphed over [[British Pensacola|British forces]], and ended with the [[Adams-Onís Treaty]] that [[Transfer of Florida|ceded Spanish Florida to the United States]]. Spanish sovereignty was interrupted in [[1818]] when [[Andrew Jackson]] [[Battle of Pensacola (1818)|invaded the city]] and established an [[American provisional government]] that lasted into the [[1819|next year]].
