- 1813 – War of 1812: Spanish Captain Cayetano Pérez surrendered Fort Carlota (Mobile) to American General James Wilkinson.
- 1904 – List of fatal accidents: A turret aboard the USS Missouri ignited a powder charge during target practice in Pensacola Bay, killing five officers and twenty-seven enlisted men.
