Mod Eschar (born Dominique P. Price December 4, 1983) (also known as Dom Price) is a Pensacola based musician, programmer and graphic artist known for being one of the founding members of the Pensacola based aggrotech/electro-industrial group Finite Automata and for his work as a programmer and graphic artist. When not on stage or involved with one of his musical projects he is simply referred to as Dom Price.

Programming Career[edit]

Price's career can be broken down into two primary fields; that of an Artist and as a Programmer. His career began in high school when he took up web development and programming as a hobby; having a passion for both computers and art. Since early on he has demonstrated a key working knowledge of web development and object oriented programming, having mastered a dozen programming languages over his ten year career.

His endeavors led him to his involvement with the entertainment website newgrounds.com from 1999 until 2003 as a contributor. In college he founded his own entertainment and e-zine based website, mobiusfactor.com, which he maintained until 2005. The site has since become defunct although Price still owns the domain. In late 2004, Price became a full time web development contractor and graphic artist, which he continues to refer to as his primary profession. During his career as a web development contractor he has literally had his hands in over 300 websites and various programming related projects.

He currently contracts out to several local companies as well as freelance projects.

Music Career[edit]

It was his interest in computers that led to the purchase of his first keyboard (an Ensoniq ESQ-1) in 2005. He has been involved in a number of musical projects including the electro-industrial band Finite Automata, the industrial noise project Vimana Cult, and the parody-techno band Wizard Cock.

In 2006 he began to pursue the arts and took the pseudonym Mod Eschar, and founded the electro-industrial group Finite Automata. In 2007, he was joined by long time friend Chris Stanley, who took the pseudonym (c.) Grendel. To this day the two are regarded as Finite Automata's founding members.

On stage Eschar is known for his wild and confrontational stage antics. His artwork and lyrical style is often referred to as convoluted , misogynistic and fatalistic.

Eschar's stage moniker is a bastardization of his name with Mod being his first name spelled backwards, and his last name spelled backwards (Ecirp) resembling the word Eschar, a medical term for a scabby gangrenous wound. His reasoning for the pseudonym is both artistic and practical as it reflects the negative aspects of Price's personality; which he prefers to keep separated from his professional life.

He is active in the Gulf Coast industrial/goth scene as both a performer and a promoter.
