Pensacola shakespeare theatre

Pensacola Shakespeare Theatre, also known as PenShakes, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2009 by a group of theatre professionals and others committed to bringing a professional theatre to the Pensacola Bay area. Led by Artistic Director Kevin P. Kern, PenShakes aims to provide Northwest Florida with a communal experience that will enlighten, inspire, and facilitate dialogue within and among the members of the diverse community of Northwest Florida, using texts both classical and modern.

The company's first production was a fundraiser, on May 13, 2010. PenShakes brought in TV and stage stars Julia Duffy and Jerry Lacy for a performance of A.R. Gurney's play "Love Letters."

In August 2010, PenShakes presented two comedies, "Much Ado About Nothing" and "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" at the University of West Florida Center for Fine and Performing Arts.

The second season production, in August 2011, was "Twelfth Night", performed at the UWF CFPA.

August 9-12, 2012, the company's new Artistic Director, Sam Osheroff, and his wife Kris Danford, starred in "The Taming of the Shrew" at the UWF Center for Fine and Performing Arts.
