Michael A. Lowery (Mike) is the President / Business Agent of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1395 in Pensacola, Florida. The Union represents workers from the Escambia County Area Transit, Pensacola Bay Transportation, Durham School Services, and Board of County Commissioners, Escambia County

Mike Lowery has been President of the transit union since May 1999 and has been elected for (4) four terms and currently holds the postion. He has represented the Transit workers through a 77 day strike of Pensacola Bay Transportation workers from November 2005 through the end of January 2006. The strike was the longest strike in the history of Escambia County. The 25 workers ended up receiving a 21% wage increase over a (3) three year labor agreement. Also on September 21, 2011 the Escambia County Area Transit workers went out on strike for one day. The first known strike of transit workers in Escambia County since the early 1900's.

He is also the Chairman of the Amalagmated Transit Union Florida State Legislative Conference Board which oversees (11) eleven Local Unions in Florida to include cities like Pensacola, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Tampa, Orlando, Sarasota, West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, and Broward County. Lowery has held the position of Chairman and was just elected to his fourth term in West Palm Beach in September 2011.

Lowery also held the position as Northwest Florida Federation of Labor (Central Labor Council) President from 2000 to 2006 and he served as a District Vice President of the Florida AFL-CIO from 2000 to 2006.

Lowery is originally from Ithaca, New York and is a veteran serving in the United States Army from 1985 - 1990. He has lived in Pensacola since 1994 with his wife and three children. He is considered one of the leading labor leaders in Northwest Florida and the State of Florida.
