'''William L. Moyer''' was briefly [[mayor of Pensacola]] for less than four days, from on [[September 18]] to [[September 21]], [[1936]].
Named to replace A special meeting of the [[Pensacola City Council]] was called that evening, and Mayor [[Henry Clay Armstrong]], who was removed as mayor by the [[Pensacola City Council]] an 8-1 vote, ostensibly for his support of Republican presidential candidate [[Wikipedia:Alf Landon|Alf Landon]](the Council was wholly Democratic). Moyer was installed as mayor, Moyer reportedly told the councilproclaiming, "I assure you gentlemen that you have elected a good, strong staunch Democratas your mayor." He On the way home from the meeting, Moyer, who was accompanied by [[Pensacola City Manager|City Manager]] [[George J. Roark]], suffered a heart attack. Roark and other carried Moyer into his home at 1600 North [[Baylen Street]] where he died shortly thereafterseveral minutes later.<ref>Lowville N.Y.
