Will Hedgecock

Ronald William "Will" Hedgecock II (born September 25, 1985) is an electrical engineer and singer. He is currently a graduate student at Vanderbilt University, set to graduate in 2010 with a master's degree in Electrical Engineering. He is the son of local electrical engineer Ronald "Ron" Hedgecock.

Background

Ronald William Hedgecock II was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. At age nine, he joined the Pensacola Children's Chorus[1]. Will sang with the group for ten years, touring with the group throughout the U.S., England, Canada, France, and Mexico, and performing at many prestigious venues, including the White House. Will also graduated from Pensacola High School's rigorous International Baccalaureate program. He also was distinguished as a semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Discovery

Around the time of his graduation, Will was discovered by Larry Butler. However, it was announced at the Pensacola Children's Chorus production of "Showtime! 2004" that he would be heading to Vanderbilt University to obtain a degree in electrical engineering instead of focusing on his singing career. He later spearheaded a benefit concert in Pensacola in 2005 to help rebuild northwest Florida after the destruction of Hurricane Ivan. This concert produced over $100,000 for hurricane victims.

Vanderbilt and Engineering

In the fall of 2004, Will began attending Vanderbilt University. There, he was a member of Original Cast, an organization that produces shows filled with numbers from Broadway musicals. It was also at Vanderbilt that Will met his manager, Jimmy Gilmer, who introduced him to George Collier, COO of Aspirion Records, who Will signed with. Will graduated from Vanderbilt in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and German. He returned from graduate school and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
