It must have been from that Southern Manufacturer publication, but I think it was worded in a way like, 'in 1886 Charles McKenzie Oerting took over the business his father had established 24 years earlier,' so I would definitely yield to an actual date. — admin • talk  12:59, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
