Campbell's Historical Sketches of Colonial Florida (1892) pegs the arrival of Peter Chester in 1772, while Clinton Howard's article "Colonial Pensacola: The British Period, Part II", appearing in the January 1941 FHQ, puts the date at 1770. I'm inclined to go with the latter, but I wanted to record the existence of a source with alternate information. — dscosson • talk 11:38, 22 March 2009 (CDT)

Ugh. The same two sources disagree on Johnstone's departure. Historical Sketches of Colonial Florida claims Johnstone resigned in December 1766, while the 1941 FHQ article claims Johnstone was dismissed in February 1767. — dscosson • talk 11:41, 22 March 2009 (CDT)

Peter Chester's arrival[edit]

Campbell's Historical Sketches of Colonial Florida (1892) pegs the arrival of Peter Chester in 1772, while Clinton Howard's article "Colonial Pensacola: The British Period, Part II", appearing in the January 1941 FHQ, puts the date at 1770. I'm inclined to go with the latter, but I wanted to record the existence of a source with alternate information. — dscossontalk 11:38, 22 March 2009 (CDT)

Johnstone's departure[edit]

Ugh. The same two sources disagree on Johnstone's departure. Historical Sketches of Colonial Florida claims Johnstone resigned in December 1766, while the 1941 FHQ article claims Johnstone was dismissed in February 1767. — dscossontalk 11:41, 22 March 2009 (CDT)
