The southern terminus of Palafox Street is [[Palafox StreetPlaza de Luna]] is a major and historic north-south artery in Pensacola. It serves as the dividing line for all the city's east-west streets. Palafox is also the southernmost leg of on [[US Highway 29Pensacola Bay]]. Its northern terminus is at Michigan Avenue, which terminates at Palafox and just north of [[Garden StreetBeverly Parkway]]s in downtown Pensacola. Palafox Street is named for /[[José de Palafox y MelziBrent Lane]], a Spanish nobleman where the road splits into Pensacola Boulevard and military heroOld Palafox Highway.

Between Garden and [[Wright Street]]s there is a median separating the northbound and southbound lanes, where tracks of the [[Pensacola streetcar system]] formerly ran.
