The John Sunday House was a historic home located at 302 West Romana Street in Pensacola's Tanyard neighborhood. Completed in 1901 by black businessman John Sunday, the house was demolished in 2016 to make way for redevelopment.

Location

In 1891, Sunday purchased from Louise Yonge lots 25 and 31 of Block 55 of the Donelson and 19th Arpent tracts. The two adjoining lots, located on the northwest corner of Reus and Romana streets, formed the core of the Sunday House property.

Construction

According to family oral histories, Sunday poured the foundation a year before beginning construction, in order to ensure that the foundation was completely settled.

Demolition

The house was demolished on July 16, 2016 despite pleas from preservationists.
