Ma was born on [[November 29]], [[1974]] in Taiwan. He came to America in {{date needed}} and attended Florida State University, graduating in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in marketing.
In [[2002]] Ma partnered with [[Hunan]] owners [[William Yang|William]] and [[Linda Yang]] to open the Asian-fusion restaurant [[Horizen]].
In [[2007]] Ma left Horizen to start his own business, [[Baba CaféCafe]], in the former [[Breaktime Espresso]] location at [[34 South Palafox Street]].
