Running for reelection, Nobles has prefinished second out of three candidates in the [[Pensacola city elections, 2008|November 2008]] general election. Nobles and first-filed place finisher [[Diane Mack]] were to proceed to a runoff election, but just days after the general election, Nobles withdrew from the race, stating in part::''I sense, though, that [my] views are probably inconsistent with a majority of our new City Council in terms of the pace and direction of change. I see no real purpose for re-electionmy community or myself in my continuing participation.''
