Florida 296 begins at Mobile Highway (US 90) and Michigan Avenue, traveling easterly on Michigan. The roadway continues west of Mobile Highway as Escambia County Road 296 (Saufley Field Road). At Pipeline Road Michigan and Florida 296 transition onto Beverly Parkway, which continues to Palafox Street. East of Palafox the roadway continues as Brent Lane until Springhill Drive where it becomes Bayou Boulevard. Florida 296 continues as Bayou Boulevard through to Bayou Texar, where it takes a southerly turn, following the east bank of the bayou. Just south of Blount Street, Florida 296 diverges onto Perry Avenue and continues as such to its eastern terminus at Cervantes Street (US 90).
