  • 1976Escambia High School riots: Following the previous days vote over the "Rebels" school mascot, a riot erupts at Escambia High School during which four students are shot and twenty-six students are injured by rocks and debris.
  • 2005Escambia County Sheriff's Deputy James Sullivan allegedly stomps on the head of subdued ex-convict Timothy T. Tabor, who had been handcuffed by deputies and was lying face down at the time on a concrete floor.
  • 2015 - Gregg Philbin, original bassist for rock band REO Speedwagon, donates a platinum copy of their 1976 album 'Live: You Get What You Play For' to the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze.
