'''Eastgate Park''' is a piece of land that was set aside by the city for the recreation and liesurely activities of the residents of western Scenic Heights and eastern Eastgate neighborhoods. It is approximately one-half mile around, when measured from corner to corner. Established in the early 1960's, it is bordered on it's northern side by Forest Glen Drive. It's eastern and western sides are bordered by Greenwood Lane, and Virwood Road. It's southern side is bordered by three houses, and Keating Road. In December 1968, a basketball court was constructed near the eastern end. It's one bench and merry-go-round were replaced in early 1974, and soon after the swings were replaced. In 2001, a sidewalk was built around it, all of the swings were again replaced, and nighttime lighting soon followed. By 2009, the park was closed at 10 pm, and two benches were added on the south side of the basketball court. As of January 2011, five of the original twenty-four families who resided closest to the park in 1962 still lived there.
