The City of Pensacola has seen a steady decrease in population in recent years as more residents migrate to outlying suburban areas in [[Escamabia Escambia County|Escambia]] and [[Santa Rosa County|Santa Rosa Counties]]. The population of the [[Pensacola metropolitan area]], encompassing both Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, is estimated to be 439,877 ([[2005]]).
