The Gulf Power Crist Plant is apparently named after "James F. Crist." The only things I see online is that he wrote a book about the power companies called They Electrified the South and [ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/mo/caldwell/cemeteries/cameron.txt] assuming it's the same guy, he died in 1980 — a year before the book was published. Maybe everyone felt bad that this guy doing research on the company died before his book got finished? --Admin 16:31, 15 April 2008 (CDT)
:LOL. I dunno. dscosson ··· talk 08:26, 17 April 2008 (CDT)
::Okay, apparently James F. Crist was the president of Gulf Power from 1948-55. (I asked for some historical stuff when I was there yesterday.) <span style="font-family:Georgia, serif; color:#cccccc;">&mdash;&nbsp;admin&nbsp;&bull;&nbsp;talk&nbsp;</span> 17:42, 10 August 2008 (CDT)

Incidentally, I picked up a copy of They Electrified the South at a rummage sale. Cute book and in great condition. Charming little card placed right inside the cover:
<div style="text-align:center;">They Electrified the South<br/>is presented to you<br/>as a courtesy of<br/>The Southern Company.<br/><br/>Alvin W. Vogtle, Jr.<br/>President</div>
Looks like good reading. <span style="font-variant:small-caps; vertical-align:5%; font-family: Georgia,serif; color:#cccccc;">—&nbsp;dscosson • talk&nbsp;</span> 12:05, 27 March 2009 (CDT)
:Great find! Yeah, I figured it was a self-promotional history or something. <span style="font-family:Georgia, serif; color:#cccccc;">&mdash;&nbsp;admin&nbsp;&bull;&nbsp;talk&nbsp;</span> 12:45, 27 March 2009 (CDT)
