December 18 – The Pensacola High School Tigers defeat Miami Belen Jesuit 24-7 to win the Florida Class 3A football championship. December 17 – Escambia County Commissioners vote 4-1 not to renew Administrator Bob McLaughlin's contract, and also to cancel the Arts Council's lease in the old county courthouse. Final plans for the new downtown library, designed by Townes + Architects, are unveiled. December 15 – Facing an audit of finances and losing its 501(c)3 status, the Arts Council of Northwest Florida dismisses director Catherine Guin and closes its doors. The Raymond B. and Leila Hobbs Center for Teaching Excellence at Pensacola Junior College opens.
