The Krewe of Bad Habits is a krewe that participates in the Mardi Gras, Fiesta of Five Flags and Christmas parades and other events. Founded in 2009 by a group of former Krewe of Bula members.

Founded in 2009[edit]

The concept of the Krewe of Bad Habits orginated from the Krewe of Bula. With slow disestablishment of the Krewe of Bula, a float began being built from the thoughts of Papas (Kenneth Hudson). This float was the beginning of the Krewe of Bad Habits. As the few remaining members of the Krewe of Bula and the up and coming members of the new Krewe starting blending into a new family we call the Krewe. As the blending continued, the new Krewe realized they would need a name to become an official Krewe.

The origin of the name for the Krewe is by no means the way that you may think of a "habit". By definition, a habit has two meanings. The first definition is the meaning that gives you the impression of how our name came about, "a habit is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously".

Instead we adopted our name from the second definition, "a habit is a distinctive set of garments worn by members of a religious order." Such as a hood for monks or friars and a veil for nuns.

Our Vice is Bad Habits[edit]

Although our vice is bad routines of behavior that we repeat regularly, the real bad habit is our Krewe outfits. We themed our float around a casino atmosphere, with the men wearing dealer outfits and the women wearing corsets.

During a trip to the Boutique Showroom at the Atlanta Gift Market in July of 2009 is where we saw our new Krewe name and outfit. There !was! a poster of a nun in a skimpy habit with words "Bad Habit", low and behold, there was the name for our Krewe.

Ronald McDonald House[edit]

All Mardi Gras Krewes along the Gulf Coast have chosen charities to support and donate too. The Krewe of Bad Habits chose to support and donate to the Ronald McDonald House. We not only provide a monetary donation, but we also assist with preparing meals to the family at the Ronald McDonald House at Pensacola Florida.
