Video plea including footage of "kidnapping"

Find ECAT is a viral marketing campaign launched by Escambia County Area Transit in 2008 to promote the transportation service and demonstrate the importance of ECAT to the Pensacola area.

The campaign purports that the ECAT mascot costume has been stolen, offering video 'proof' of masked assailants tackling the character as he walks on Pensacola Beach.[1] In a video message, ECAT general manager Travis Lakin asked for the community's help in returning the costume.

At the campaign's website, findecat.com, a blog tracks "sightings" of the character and explains why ECAT is "key to the community."[2]

After Lakin was suspended and ultimately fired by ECAT management company Veolia Transportation for allegedly abusing his position, the commercials and YouTube videos featuring him were discontinued.
