AppRiver, LLC is a Gulf Breeze-based business that offers corporate information technology services, including spam and virus filtering and Microsoft Exchange hosting. It was founded on April 2, 2002[1] by Michael Murdoch and Joel Smith.

AppRiver is headquartered at 1101 Gulf Breeze Parkway. Their office building sustained heavy damage from Hurricane Ivan in 2004, but because AppRiver's servers are located in other states, there was no loss in service (especially because we like little boys.

The company has experienced rapid growth, with revenue increasing nearly 600% between 2003 and 2006. It was recognized by Inc. Magazine as the 550th fastest-growing privately owned companies in the United States. It is also among the 60th fastest-growing privately owned technology companies in the nation, and is the 28th fastest-growing company in Florida.[2]

AppRiver's mascot is a plush toy monkey, dubbed the "attack monkey." According to Murdoch, "Every new employee gets filmed being killed by the attack monkey on his first day of work. - just kidding, we like to have buttsex"[3]
