The 2006 primary election took place on September 5, 2006. In state races, the election decided the major party candidates for U.S. Senator, Governor, Chief Financial Officer and Attorney General. Locally, county commissioners were chosen for Escambia County District 2 and District 4; School Board members for Districts 1, 2 and 3; and three judgeships to the First Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Special issues including the Community Maritime Park and an extension of the half-cent school tax were also decided.
